Easter is Just Around the Corner! Here’s Some Basket-Filling Ideas for You
Can we just skip the debate over chocolate bunnies, Cadbury eggs, and Reester delights? I’m all about the classics in my kids’ Easter baskets and let them “go wild” for the day (or even the week). I’m not one to micromanage their sweet intake after every meal. It’s far more enjoyable to let them dive in and enjoy—no need for Easter basket policing here!
However, candy isn’t always a viable option for every family, especially considering allergies and dietary restrictions. To keep the kiddos entertained during the car ride to Grandma’s and to help manage that inevitable sugar crash before dinner, I like to toss in a few fun trinkets.
In addition to the usual bubbles and sidewalk chalk (a yearly tradition here), I’ve come across some additional ideas that will outlast the holiday weekend:
- Mini Playmobil Sets: These are great on their own or as an addition to their current collection.
- Card Games: Perfect for keeping the kids occupied while the adults sip their favorite drinks and swap embarrassing family tales.
- Craft Kits for the kids’ table: A little creativity goes a long way!
- A family movie: I know some might think this is a tad excessive, but I prefer to include items that will extend beyond Easter. These are things I would likely buy anyway (like their favorite film or a craft kit), but they feel extra special tucked into a charming basket alongside chocolate eggs and bunnies.

In summary, Easter is a time for fun, creativity, and a bit of indulgence. With a mix of candy and engaging activities, you can create a memorable basket that will keep your little ones entertained long after the holiday has passed.
